Plants and Practicalities

Vancouver Hardy Plant Group presents a weekend of talks, open gardens, plant sales and social gatherings to embellish your interest in and knowledge of plants in general, hardy perennials in particular. The Study Weekend also offers an opportunity to meet old gardening friends and to make new friends who share the love of plants and passion of gardening. You will be enthusiastically welcomed!

SPEAKERS

Graeme Bain, who has spent most of his life 'hands-on' with plants of all sizes, will share tips about techniques and the tools he finds useful.

Tracy DiSabato-Aust, author, designer and consultant, will enlighten us with her proven methods of pruning and shaping perennials for maximum effect.

Bunny Guinness, winner of six gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show for her garden design, is a goldmine of creative and innovative ideas.

Thomas Hobbs, whose destination nursery is a great source of 'new' and interesting plants, puts them together with flair and panache.

Roy Lancaster, a leading plantsman of our time, has introduced plants from many different parts of the world. Well known to us on the west coast, we are delighted to welcome him back to our Study Weekend.

Darrell Probst is so devoted to the genus Epimedium that he searches far and wide for the species. He is the owner of a mail order nursery specializing in these and other choice shade-loving perennials.

Paddy Wales is one part garden photographer, one part garden writer, and one part garden maniac. Her images of plants and gardens are breathtaking.
