Vancouver Hardy Plant is excited to be hosting the 2023 Study Weekend.

“Growing Smarter”

Our presenters are:

John Grimshaw, Director of the Yorkshire Arboretum at Castle Howard, Editor of Trees and Shrubs Online, co-author of ‘New Trees, Recent Introductions to Cultivation’ and ‘Snowdrops: A Monograph of Cultivated Galanthus’ and author of ‘The Gardener’s Atlas’. John is a member of the RHS Advisory Group on Nomenclature and Taxonomy and is Vice-chair of their Woody Plant Committee.

Matthew Wilson, Award winning British Garden Designer, regular panelist on BBC4 Gardeners’ Question Time and garden writer for the Financial Times

Andy MacKinnon, Ecologist with the Research Branch of BC Ministry of Forests, educator, and author of 6 renowned guidebooks of BC plants, and most recently a guidebook on BC mushrooms.

Egon Davis, multi award winning educator and currently Manager of Richmond, BC Parks

Daniel Mosquin, Research Manager at the UBC Botanical Garden, and photographer

Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be lectures, open gardens, and plant sales.

Saturday evening, our Soiree will be held at Southland Nursery, a separate ticket event.

Monday will be Open Gardens on Bowen Island, a short ferry trip from West Vancouver.

Accommodations will be at Gage Residences on the UBC campus, close to our venue

We will again offer pod arrangements for $52-$62.

Single rooms will be $159

One bedroom suites will be $239

Registration is planned to open at the end of January 2023
